Washington,
DC (May 9, 2007) – Former Congressman Richard Pombo (R-CA) has been
named as the new National Chairman for the Partnership for America, a
large national grassroots education and advocacy organization that
lobbies for greater public access to public lands, reform of the
Endangered Species Act and less reliance on foreign energy.
The announcement was made Wednesday during Pombo’s first public appearance in Washington, D.C. since he left office in January. The announcement was broadcast nationally via live internet video webcast.
“I spent 14 years in Congress fighting for what I believe in and doing what I knew was right,” Pombo said. “But the fight is far from over. I plan to continue to fight against those special interests that want to lock up and restrict the people’s access to their land; that abuse environmental laws in order to take away people’s property rights and individual liberty; that stand in the way of economic freedom and more American jobs; and that work to keep America addicted to foreign energy by blocking America’s ability to produce more American energy.”
"These are the core issues that drive the Partnership for America,
and I am honored to serve as the Partnership’s National Chairman and
help them elevate their issue campaigns to a new level,” he said.
“The members of the Partnership for America supports public policies
that seek to restore a common sense, balanced approach to economic
growth and environmental conservation,” said Paul Poister, the
Partnership’s Executive Vice President.
With offices in Golden, CO and Washington, D.C, the Partnership has a list of activists that number more than 800,000. It focuses public policy issues in these core areas:
